  • As a child, my family visited many of the National Parks listed, but this one is so unique and it draws me back over and over. To witness the damaging and wild energy from the mountain erupting, even after all these years and to have visited it long before that event, bring so many feelings to the forefront. It is worth going just to see, first hand, how mother nature has reclaimed so much of the thick forest-land laid bare in 1980, yet still leaving so much of the damage done to still view! A must do in the Pacific Northwest!

  • Everyone goes to Johnston Ridge but if you're traveling with kids, check out the Forest Learning Center, too, it has a lot of hands-on things they will enjoy.

    Vote: BEST National Park

  • Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument is NOT a National Park. It is operated and run by the US Forest Service. Not staffed by Park Service personnel. Totally a Forest Service operation.

    Vote: BEST National Park

  • The kids vote Mt. St. Helens .......although a tight run with Crater lake and Coulee dam.

    Vote: BEST National Park

  • It is breathtaking to see this place now - even if you didn't see the devastation after the mountain blew
