So much to explore and truly something for everyone. Whether you are a climber, hiker, car camper, or even just driving through this is the place to experience alpine majesty. My Grandma enjoyed having her friend drive her across highway 20 in the Fall to view the leaves changes. Highway 20 closes every winter so if you plan to make the drive be sure to check the weather conditions especially late Fall. If you drive all the way to Mazama - consider treating yourself to some deli-delight at the Mazama store. Lots of pull outs along 20 for photos and views. More mountains to climb in a lifetime and so many trails that require some preparation but good for all ages - just need to find the right one. Plenty of books and especially the washington state trails association provide details and trip reports for many of these trails.
